The head coach of Tracy High School’s varsity football team, who grew up in Pleasanton, was arrested Friday after police allege he secretly videorecorded students changing in the locker room.
Jeff Pribble, 48, has been placed on leave by the Tracy Unified School District, where he is also a teacher at the high school. Pribble played football for Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton in the mid-1990s.
“Our children deserve to feel safe at school and in every space where they should be able to learn, grow, and simply be kids,” Tracy Police Chief Sekou Millington said in a news release Saturday morning. “Protecting the safety, privacy, and well-being of our students is a responsibility we take seriously. We are grateful to the students who brought this incident to the attention of adults and to the officers and detectives who acted quickly to investigate.”
It is unclear whether Pribble is represented by an attorney yet. In addition to his roles at Tracy High, he is also the Tracy site director for Next Level Flag Football, according to his Facebook page.
The investigation into Pribble began unfolding on Thursday evening (Sept. 10) when patrol officers were contacted by a concerned parent reporting that a student discovered a cellphone recording students inside a locker room at Tracy High, according to police.
“As officers gathered information, they learned that a student and several classmates had found a phone recording them while changing,” police said. “The students stopped the recording, deleted the video, and gave the phone to a teacher.”
Tracy Police Department school resource officers and detectives from the general investigations unit continued their work into the next day, and they developed information to determine the phone belonged to Pribble, according to the department.
Officers arrested Pribble on the high school campus on Friday, police said. He is now on administrative leave pending the outcome of the separate criminal and district investigations.
Tracy High principal Jon Waggle acknowledged the arrest of an employee – but did not identify Pribble by name nor the specific allegations – in an email to the parents, saying the district was fully cooperating with the police investigation.
“We understand that this news may raise serious concerns in the District community,” Waggle wrote. “The District too is concerned about the well-being of its students and staff and is committed to holding its employees to the highest professional and ethical standards.”
“Moving forward, the District will continue to work with law enforcement and take any and all necessary actions to protect students,” the principal added. “Tracy High School and all our Tracy Unified schools are proud of being safe schools. The cooperation between students, parents and staff members keeps our schools safe and is important and appreciated. Thank you for your continued partnership and support.”
The Tracy High football team won its game Friday night at Lathrop 56-0, moving the Bulldogs to 3-0 early in the 2026 season. Assistant Justin Evans served as the coach, according to tracyhighfootball.com.
