A man suspected in two-decade-old bombings in Pleasanton and Emeryville was taken into custody by the FBI after being captured by Wales, authorities said Tuesday.
Daniel Andreas San Diego, originally from Schellville in Sonoma County, made the FBI’s Most Wanted List for his alleged role in an Aug. 28, 2003 bombing of the Chiron Corporation in Emeryville. The explosion was minor and no injuries were reported, but a secondary device was found at the scene and deactivated.

Then on Sept. 26, 2003, a bomb wrapped in nails exploded but there were also no injuries at Pleasanton health and beauty products company Shaklee Corp.
San Diego, then 25, was identified as the primary suspect in October 2003 and was added to the FBI’s Most Wanted List in 2009 as he remained a fugitive.
At the time, an animal rights group called Revolutionary Cells claimed responsibility for both blasts. The group said the reason for the attacks was that the company did business with Huntingdon Life Sciences, a New Jersey company that tested products on animals.
San Diego was apprehended in Wales with help from authorities in the United Kingdom, according to the FBI. His capture marks the culmination of over two decades of effort by the FBI, the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and international law enforcement partners.
