A person was taken into custody for possession of illegal fireworks after Danville police officers allegedly caught them in the act of the pyrotechnics on Diablo Road on the Fourth of July.
Officers went to the 700 block of Diablo Road – the stretch just east of Vista Grande Elementary School – and found fireworks were actively being set off in the area, the Danville Police Department said in a post on Facebook.
They reportedly soon saw a person igniting large fireworks in front of multiple bystanders, and ultimately arrested the person. All fireworks are illegal everywhere in Contra Costa County.
That wasn’t all of note to occur in Danville on Friday, police-wise. The department also posted on Facebook that an officer arrested a driver on suspicion of reckless driving for going 96 mph in their Porsche on Camino Tassajara on Independence Day.
The Porsche was impounded, and the driver was released from the police station on a promise to appear in court, according to police.
Neither arrestees’ names were immediately released.
“The Danville Police Department remains committed to ensuring the safety and peace of our community during holidays and all year round,” police said at the end of the fireworks arrest post.
