A Pleasanton man accused of driving drunk at more than 150 mph in a fatal San Ramon crash last November has accepted a plea deal and will avoid going to trial.
Badal Dholaria, 28, agreed to plead no contest to charges of manslaughter, driving under the influence and assault in connection with the collision that killed Alix Sparks, a 41-year-old nurse and Castro Valley resident. He entered the plea Sept. 24 at the Wakefield Taylor Courthouse in Martinez.
Police said Dholaria was driving a Tesla westbound on Crow Canyon Road about 3:30 p.m. Nov. 29 when his car collided with a Ford Bronco near the intersection with Bollinger Canyon Road. Sparks, a passenger in the Bronco, died from her injuries. The driver of the Bronco, also a Castro Valley resident, was treated for injuries.
Dholaria, who has been in custody on $1.2 million bail since his arrest, initially pleaded not guilty to a slew of charges, including murder. He had been set to go to trial Nov. 9.
Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 15 at the Wakefield Taylor Courthouse.
