The Town of Danville is in the midst of two major transitions this month, with two longtime staff members in their final days on the job and their successors waiting in the wings.
Officials announced Recreation Superintendent Jessica Wallner as the town’s next director of recreation, arts and community services starting July 1, when she is set to take the reins from the current director Henry Perezalonso as he shifts to a position with the City of San Ramon.
Wallner will come to the role with nearly two decades of experience working with the town, having started off as an intern in 2006 and working her way up the ranks since then, with the upcoming appointment marking her most recent promotion.
“Jessica’s promotion is a proud moment for the Town, as she represents the very best of public service,” Assistant Town Manager Tai Williams said. “Beyond her extensive experience and strong track record, she brings the leadership intangibles that are harder to teach.”
“She has an instinctive understanding of the Town and its history that allows her to respond to the heartfelt needs of the community, often before they’re even voiced,” Williams continued. “Her journey reflects not only her personal commitment but also a strong culture of leadership development within our organization.”
The move comes amid Williams’ final days in her current role as assistant to longtime Town Manager Joe Calabrigo. Effective July 1, she is set to take his place as he enters retirement.
San Ramon officials announced Perezalonso’s appointment as the city’s next director of parks and community services effective July 14, marking the end of more than a decade in the role.
