Officials with the San Ramon Valley Unified School District and recruitment consultants are continuing to work toward selecting Superintendent John Malloy’s successor this weekend ahead of his rapidly approaching departure date.

The district’s board of education is scheduled for two upcoming special meetings on Saturday and Sunday, both of which will be held in closed session with no reports at the end.

The upcoming meetings are the district’s latest move toward finding a successor for Malloy, who announced in February that he would be leaving the district at the end of the current school year.

Since then, the board has been working with a search firm and conducting numerous closed session meetings to discuss the recruitment process.

While no additional information on the content of the closed session meetings this weekend is available, the board approved a tentative plan in a public meeting in March that saw April 27 and April 28 scheduled as dates to interview candidates, ahead of approving a contract at their public meeting in May with the goal of the new hire starting work on July 1.

The SRVUSD board is set to meet at 8:30 a.m. on both Saturday (April 27) and Sunday (April 28). The agenda for Saturday is available here and the agenda for Sunday is available here. Neither meeting is set to be livestreamed.
