In addition to the “Christmas Memories” exhibit, the Museum of the San Ramon Valley currently is displaying the Sullenbergers’ 2010 Rose Bowl collection at the museum.
Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, a Danville resident, was Grand Marshal in the parade, tossed the coin for the Ohio State/Oregon Rose Bowl Game, and was honored in many ways during last year’s celebration in Pasadena.
The exhibit includes the unique coin for coin toss (Oregon on one side, Ohio State on the other), autographed football helmets from both teams, programs, pictures, badges, a framed collection of Rose Parade pins representing all its participants and more
This collection is on loan from Sully and Lorrie Sullenberger and will be returned to them in early January.
The quilt featuring the Miracle on the Hudson that was sent to Danville from Missouri by the artist Cher Piche is also on display this month.
“Christmas Memories” is an annual tradition at the Museum and captures Christmases past with a display of trees from earlier eras — the 1890s, 1930s and 1950s. Nestled under the trees are model trains, toys and keepsakes from these generations.
This year there is also an elaborate Christmas Village on display, which has been created over the years by Danville resident Jan Habiger. As in years past, there will also be gingerbread houses closely replicating historic buildings from throughout the San Ramon Valley. The exhibit runs through Jan. 2.
Santa will be visiting the Museum from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on two Saturdays, Dec. 11 and 18.
The Museum Store also offers unique gifts, including a beautiful Christmas Card depicting the Museum on Danville’s snowy December morning last year.
The Museum of the San Ramon Valley is located in the restored Danville Train Depot at 205 Railroad Ave. in Danville. Hours are 1-4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday; closed Christmas Eve and open New Year’s Eve. Admission is $3 for guests, free for Museum members.
