A standoff involving multiple law enforcement agencies in Danville ended with the person peacefully surrendering after nearly four hours on Wednesday evening, according to police.

The situation began unfolding around 3:20 p.m. when Danville officers responded to a report of a person threatening suicide in the 700 block of Everett Drive, near the Paraiso Drive intersection in a neighborhood just east of Interstate 680.

The person had barricaded themselves in their vehicle, refusing to get out and saying they had a gun, police said. Officers from the Danville Police Department, San Ramon Police Department and the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office set up a perimeter around the area and began talking with the person.

Shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday, the person voluntarily left their vehicle and surrendered to police custody without further incident. Police said the person was being taken in for a mental health evaluation.

No gun was found in their possession nor in the vehicle, according to police.
