The Danville Planning Commission is set Tuesday to debate allowing a new single-family residential development on a vacant ridgeline property on the southeastern outskirts of town.

Commissioners will discuss and consider approving a development application for a 6,044-square-foot, two-story home along with a 1,148-square-foot detached accessory dwelling unit (ADU) and 780-square-foot detached garage.

While the property was the subject of a subdivision application that was approved in 1998, part of the conditions of approval for that application were that any development on the property at 68 Hidden Hills Place be subject to review and approval by the commission and Design Review Board under a separate development application.

Additionally, the location of the property makes any development on it subject to the town’s “Major Ridgeline and Scenic Hillside Ordinance”.

The development plan on the table for commissioners this week was approved by the Design Review Board at its March 30 meeting. The proposed development is in line with zoning requirements from the town, with the property falling under the General Plan’s country estates designation.

Town staff are recommending that the council approve the development application at their next regular meeting on Tuesday (May 9) at 5 p.m. The agenda is available here.
