Sunrise Ridge Park opening

The city of San Ramon is now home to a new park featuring amenities for a number of recreation opportunities, including basketball, bocce, and tennis courts, lighted turfs for soccer, lacrosse, baseball and softball, as well as a playground, picnic area, rose garden, and walking path.

City officials gathered to celebrate the opening of the 12-acre Sunrise Ridge Park at 7500 Faria Preserve Parkway at 4 p.m. on Nov. 13, with the park now open to the public.

Sandbag stations

A number of sandbag stations are available to San Ramon Valley residents amid ongoing rainy conditions set to last through Wednesday.

Free sandbags are available in Danville at 1000 Sherburne Hills Rd. next to the town’s post office, with residents asked to take no more than 20 bags each. 

In San Ramon, three stations are available at Athan Downs Park, Central Park, and San Ramon Sports park.

Santa on a Firetruck

The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District is hosting its annual Santa on a Firetruck events early next month, with Danville and San Ramon families invited to watch the processions and take photos with Santa Claus at the end of the route.

The San Ramon event is set to kick off at Athan Downs Park at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 7 then proceed on a route throughout the city before ultimately ending at City Center Bishop Ranch at approximately 6 p.m.

The Danville event is set to kick off from the southern part of town at Camino Ramon and Fostoria Way near Costco at 4:30 p.m on Dec. 14 before proceeding northward and finishing at the Veterans Memorial Building near downtown at approximately 6 p.m. More information is available here.

Ramona Park playground closure

The playground at Ramona Park in San Ramon is temporarily closed through Dec. 5 to accommodate the installation of a new play structure.

Senior Giving Tree

The Town of Danville is asking residents to consider participating in this year’s Senior Giving Tree, with gifts accepted through Dec. 5., aimed at spreading holiday cheer to seniors in the community.

Wrapped gifts of up to $25 – with games, books, and puzzles particularly welcome – are being accepted at drop-off locations at the Danville Senior Center at 115 E. Prospect Ave. and at the Town Offices at 500 La Gonda Way. Gifts will be distributed by the Danville Senior Center.
