The Del Amigo Swim Team held its ninth annual triathlon last Friday at Del Amigo Pool, with all ages participating: 6-and-unders swam and ran; 7-and-ups swam, biked and ran; and 11-and-ups swam 1.5 miles, biked 7.4 miles, and ran 2.6 miles. The younger swimmer used kickboards and swim fins to complete their 34 laps, a total of half a mile. Many of the older swimmers went 102 laps nonstop, then biked the Iron Horse Trail toward Alamo. More than 100 kids participated, while swim team parents counted laps, monitored the trail crossings and handed out food and water, under the direction of coordinator Michele Hennigan. The Triathlon was the culmination of Survival Week, where the team had hard swim workouts every day in preparation for the Valley Swim Association League Championship Meet being held July 30-31.
