The Monte Vista football team ran their record to a perfect 5-0 and 2-0 in the EBAL rolling over Livermore 38-7. Leading 35-0 at halftime, they ran up 450 yards in total offense with 236 passing and 214 yards on the ground. Drew McAllister threw for 3 touchdowns and Peter Geurts ran for one. Monte Vista will play at home tonight against Freedom.

Granada held on for a close win over San Ramon Valley 17-14. It was their first win against the Wolves since 2000. Granada is now 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the EBAL. San Ramon went to 3-2 overall and 0-2 in the EBAL. The Wolves will try and get back on the winning track tonight at home against Livermore.

Golf

At the Lone Tree Girls Tournament on Monday, the Lady Mustangs were victorious posting the lowest score at 426. Bishop O’Dowd was second at 447 and Amador Valley third at 462. Sunny Zhang and Michelle Hatsushi led the team with 79’s.

On Oct. 4, the Lady Mustangs beat Livermore at Wente Golf Course 221-298. Michelle Hatsushi led the Mustangs with a score of 39. Monte Vista is now 8-0 and in first place in the EBAL. San Ramon beat Granada 295 to 323 at Crow Canyon Country Club. The team was led by Cait Pickenvance with a 52. On Thursday Oct. 6, the Lady Mustangs beat Livermore 258-288. Jennifer Cohen shot 40 to lead the team.The Wolves are 5-3 in the EBAL.

Tennis

On Oct. 4, Monte Vista’s lady tennis team beat Amador Valley 8-1 and Foothill 9-0 to go 5-0 and first place in the EBAL.

The lady Wolves tennis team beat Candolet 8-1 and Livermore 9-0. On Oct. 6 they lost a close match to cross town rival Monte Vista 3-6 to go 5-2. The only other loss was to Foothill with a score of 3-4.

Volleyball

On Oct. 4, the San Ramon lady Volleyball team defeated Livermore. On October 6 the Wolves lost to Amador Valley to go 1-3 in the EBAL.

Cross Country

On Oct. 5 at Oak Hill Park In Danville, Ca., 7 teams ran in an EBAL meet. This was a preview to the EBAL Championship as it is run on the same course. Alexis Nordine led the lady Wolves varsity team with a third place finish at 20:13. The Wolves finished the day with a 6-0 record and the first step toward defending their EBAL title. In the boys varsity race, Brett Gunari finished 6th at 17:30 to lead the Wolves to third place with Monte Vista first and Livermore second.

On Oct. 8 at the Clovis Invitational in Fresno, Ca., the site of the California State Cross Country meet in November, the lady Wolves varsity team earned third place as a team and took home their first ever team plaque. In the boys varsity race, Brett Gunari finished the race at 17:00, a course best by 41 seconds.
