The San Ramon City Council is set to interview a fresh batch of applicants for a vacant seat on the Planning Commission.

Back in June, the council reappointed Gary Alpert to his seat on the Planning Commission and appointed Santhosh Kanjula to a first term on the commission. However, one seat was still left vacant and recruitment was reopened.

The council voted at its regular meeting Tuesday to invite all five new applicants to interviews during a special meeting Thursday. They include Bruce Allis, Don Yakulis, Abhijit Banerjee, Max Zhang and Satyanarayana Jasty.

Following the interviews, city staff are recommending that the council vote to appoint the selected applicant for a term starting immediately, and to select another of the candidates to be waitlisted.

The San Ramon City Council is set to meet at 6 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 14). The agenda is available here.
