San Ramon’s Senior Advisory Committee is set to present its annual report to the city council this week, in which it will provide updates on its goals for the past year and look ahead to the coming year.

The committee’s highlights over the past year include efforts to bolster its “Encore!” newsletter – which will now be published quarterly, rather than three times per year – the establishment of an ad hoc committee centered on outreach and revising survey questions, recommendations for a volunteer outreach framework, and a recommendation to make its meetings bi-monthly.

In the year ahead, the committee is set to look into the requirements for San Ramon to be designated as an Age Friendly Community, work towards increasing resources and outreach efforts for seniors at the San Ramon Community Center and the Alcosta Senior Center, and work with city staff to identify volunteer opportunities for older adults. It is also planning to host community walks at parks and neighborhood gathering centers with the goal of bolstering community engagement and garnering insight on the city’s increasing senior population.

The Senior Advisory Committee is set to present its report at the next City Council meeting on Tuesday (March 24). The agenda is available here
