Tri-Valley Haven vigil
Tri-Valley Haven, a nonprofit that supports survivors of domestic abuse, is hosting its annual candlelight vigil and march for Domestic Violence Awareness Month next Thursday (Oct. 15) in downtown Livermore.
The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Lizzy Fountain, located at the corner of First Street and Livermore Avenue.
“For nearly 50 years, Tri-Valley Haven has been a safe place for survivors seeking support, safety, and hope,” Carolina Alaniz, director of domestic violence services at Tri-Valley Haven, said in a press release. “Events like the Candlelight March remind our community that domestic violence is not something anyone should face alone. By coming together, we raise awareness, honor the strength of survivors, and reaffirm our commitment to ending violence in our community.”
Niles Canyon Road closure
Caltrans will once again be shutting down the Arroyo de la Laguna bridge, located in Sunol along Highway 84, from 8 p.m. this Saturday until 10 a.m. Sunday in order to pour concrete for the new bridge deck.

The new bridge deck, according to the transportation agency, is part of its larger Arroyo de la Laguna bridge replacement project, which seeks to rehabilitate the deteriorated bridge.
According to Caltrans, the full closure will be limited to the section of Highway 84, also known as Niles Canyon Road, located between the Sunol Corners market and Main Street in Sunol.
“Unlike the previous closure for the bridge girder installation, this work will not require the closure of any ramps or other sections of SR-84,” the transportation agency stated in a press release. “Main Street, Paloma Way and all freeway ramps and exits will remain open.”

Big Bounce America

The Contra Costa Fair and Event Park in Antioch will feature 50,000 square feet of inflatable attractions, live music and the world’s largest bounce house next week as part of the Big Bounce America event.
The experience was supposed to come to the Alameda County Fairgrounds but Greg Wiley, public relations manager for Big Bounce America, said that “due to circumstances outside our control, we had to change our location to Contra Costa Fair and Event Park.”
“We are excited to play at the Contra Costa Fair and Event Park,” Wiley added. “It’s our first time there, it’s a great venue with plenty of space, free parking and awesome partners to promote with.”
