Welcome to the pages of the Danville Weekly, your new community newspaper, dedicated to covering the news, people and daily activities in Danville, Blackhawk, Diablo and Alamo. We are being mailed into every home and many of the businesses in these areas, and we hope to deliver all the local news of interest to our readers.
At the Danville Weekly, we believe people are vitally interested in local news, what is going on right in their own back yard. What happened at the Town Council last week? What are the plans for the site of the old Coco’s coffee shop? What’s the story on the old Povda house on Hartz and School Street? How is the development in Dougherty Valley affecting the schools in Danville and Alamo?
Downtown Danville is a gem, combining old-fashioned charm with modern day sophistication. Greater Danville has active theater groups, youth sports, great schools, hiking and outdoor activities, museums, churches, shopping and restaurants, Mt. Diablo State Park and the Eugene O’Neill National Historic Site. Throw in the lovely natural surroundings, the proximity to San Francisco and the Sierra, and the weather, and the price of houses begins to make sense!
Below is information about how to contact us, to send a letter to the editor, or a notice about your new baby, your wedding or a meeting of your club. We do not charge to print obituaries so be sure to send us this information if services are not being handled by a local mortuary. We welcome photos to accompany obituaries as well as births, engagements, weddings and anniversaries.
As we have been welcomed into this community, we want to welcome you to our pages. Please let us know what we are missing, what needs improvement – or what we are doing well. We hope to grow soon to be able to include more of the community news that is important to you.
