As the election filing deadline approaches in the coming weeks, San Ramon Councilmember Sridhar Verose has announced his reelection campaign ahead of the expiration of his current – and first – term in the seat at the end of the year.
Verose was first elected to the City Council in 2020, coming into the position after serving on the city’s parks commission, and he completed a year-long stint as the city’s vice mayor in 2022. The reelection campaign was officially launched last week, with Verose pointing toward accomplishments during his term thus far and plans for addressing the city’s current and future challenges.
“The city of San Ramon is a special place that none of us can ever take for granted,” Verose said in the announcement July 25. “But that doesn’t mean the work stops there. If re-elected I will continue the fight on City Council to continuously improve our public safety, parks and roads.”
According to his campaign announcement, Verose’s top priority to date has been public safety, including working to secure $5.6 million in state funding to curb organized retail theft last year and the establishment of the recently opened South County Training facility aimed at serving as a hub for the city’s emergency services, as well as participating in regular neighborhood safety meetings.
As a member of the city’s infrastructure committee, Verose’s campaign announcement also highlights his part in facilitating the current construction of the Iron Horse trail overcrossing, plus securing funding for the city’s fiber optic network.
Like the rest of the council, Verose is now faced with addressing the city’s financial struggles amid a growing deficit that was projected to hit a record high in the planning process for the current fiscal year’s budget, and following $8.1 million in cuts across the city’s departments that the council reluctantly agreed to earlier in the year.
As of Monday, it was unclear whether Verose will be seeing a challenger in this year’s race. The filing deadline for the upcoming election is Aug. 9.
