A town hall meeting on refinery safety is being hosted this week in Martinez by U.S. Rep. Mark DeSaulnier.
The town hall is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday (March 25) in the multipurpose room at John Muir Elementary School at 205 Vista Way in Martinez and will also be livestreamed on the Facebook page of DeSaulnier (D-Concord), whose district includes the San Ramon Valley.
The congressman’s office said, “With recent safety incidents leading to investigations at two separate Martinez refineries, the Congressman is bringing the community together to discuss his efforts to protect the environment and quality of life here in the Bay Area, his former work as an air regulator, and hear directly from the Martinez community.”
Experts from other agencies with oversight of the refineries will also attend the meeting, including Contra Costa Health, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and the U.S. Chemical Safety Board.
People can RSVP, submit a question or request special accommodations at desaulnier.house.gov/town-hall-rsvp.
