The San Ramon Planning Commission is set to resume discussions on the city’s General Plan Update process at its next regular meeting, with an eye toward solidifying the update into a vision to guide the city’s planning activities through 2040.

The discussion is set to be the fourth public hearing on the draft General Plan 2040 update, with the upcoming session aimed at continuing talks on points raised in previous meetings and including a specific focus on proposed zone ordinance amendments, as well as the glossary and introduction to Chapter 1 of the update.
Amendments to existing zoning ordinances in the draft include changes involve changes to “by-right” property use, changes to the section on accessory dwelling units (ADUs) that align with recent changes in state law, as well as changes to the State Density Bonus Law, changes to mixed-use development standards, zones, and permit requirements, as well as changes to minimum and maximum densities and floor area ratios, and a higher maximum height limit.
City staff are recommending that the council discuss the item along with public comments, and requesting input and feedback to incorporate into further discussions that they recommend to continue at the Sept. 19 commission meeting.
The San Ramon Planning Commission is set to meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 5). The agenda is available here.

Commissioners are set to discuss a use permit application for a proposed studio space at 2020 Faria Preserve Pkwy. that would allow for the establishment of a new WeGym facility, as well as a reduction in required on-site parking by 18 spaces.
The applicant, Abdul Khan of Stockton, is proposing shared parking for employees and guests of the proposed fitness facility, which would also apply to the surrounding area if approved.
City staff are requesting that commissioners discuss the proposed facility and provide feedback to the applicant and planning staff, and that they approve the application if appropriate.
