Planning Commission opening
The Contra Costa County Planning Commission is set to have a new member starting this summer, with applications now open for a seat on the body for a four-year term starting July 1.
The commission meets at 6:30 p.m. on second and fourth Mondays every month in Martinez, with members receiving $50 per meeting as well as mileage costs. Applications are open through 5 p.m. on April 26, with public interviews scheduled via Zoom on May 13.
Music and laughter benefit
Tickets are on sale now for an upcoming benefit event for Discovery Counseling Center, with a performance by standup comic Dennis Gaxiola, music, a silent auction, and a wine and desert reception on tap later this month.
The event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on April 26 in the Roundhouse Conference Center at 2600 Camino Ramon in San Ramon. Tickets and more information are available here.
Teen job fairs
The town of Danville is hosting two job fairs aimed at connecting local teens with businesses seeking employees, with businesses and organizations invited to join the event through Monday (April 8).
The first event is scheduled for April 17 from noon to 1:15 p.m. at San Ramon Valley High School, with the second event on April 25 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Monte Vista High School.
Representatives from businesses and organizations seeking to hire teens from 15 to 18 years old can register to participate by contacting staff for Danville’s teen programming at 925-314-3400 or recreation@danvill.ca.gov.
Free museum day for seniors
The Museum of the San Ramon Valley is hosting a free admission day for seniors on April 14th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at 205 Railroad Ave.
In addition to admission to the museum and its current “Gadgets Galore” exhibit, the event is set to include tea and refreshments “creating the perfect ambiance for mingling and reminiscing” over the historic appliances on display according to museum organizers. Fire Commission applications
Applications are now open for two positions on the Contra Costa Fire Protection District’s Advisory Fire Commission.
The county Board of Supervisors is seeking to fill an at-large and an at-large alternate seat on the commission, with both selected applicants set to carry out four-year terms starting July 1.
The commission meets regularly on the second Monday of even-numbered months at 7 p.m. in Concord. Applicants are required to be residents or workers within the fire district.
Applications are open through April 26 at 5 p.m., with public interviews scheduled in Martinez on May 13.
